1945-1953 Apprenticeship
Émile Souply attended the École des Métiers d’art in Maredsous between 1945 and 1953. During his apprenticeship, the aspiring silversmith became familiar with the techniques and raw materials of the craft. The basic tools were given to students in the form of a kit as soon as they entered the school.
Alongside the objects he made, numerous drawings from this period attest to the student’s versatility as a draughtsman as well as his extensive historical knowledge, concerning the Celtic and Merovingian civilisations in particular.
